I have limited access here at work and since I have dial up at home what is the point, it sucks ass. I do not blog well after 2:00 AM. So I take my shots when I can. Well back from the weekend and hard at work here in Narnia. I swear if Mr. Tumnas drops another project on me I am going to beat the Turkish Delight out him. The Better Half and I had a wonderful weekend, after feeling like crap on Friday. Here is what we got accomplished:
1. Got tires for the Boski mobile. I just was not happy to have tires I could see my reflection in.
2. We did our best to spur on the economy. You give us the cash and we will put people to work.
3. First BBQ of the season, and it went off with out a hitch. No Black Widows trying to bag a burger.
4. Watched a great documentary on Shane McGowan from 2001. It was on our cables On-Demand section so we demanded it. It was a great look at him and his a career. If you want to see a great documentary about a true original then watch "If I Should Fall from Grace". It has everything you could ask for. It has music, a great story, the worst set of teeth ever and the greatest set of mutton chops. There was a gentleman in the documentary who had more then mutton chops. He had a whole heard of sheep. You only see the man for a moment but it is one you will never forget. Just think of Chester A. Arthur , but on roids. After watching it I told the better half that I wanted to learn how to speak Shane. She replied, so you are going to learn, English, Gaelic and Slestak.
5. Finally sat down and watched "Waiting for Gufman". Loved it. After the movie I had to be talked down that the "My Dinner with Andre" Action Figures did not exist. Rats. This one topped "A Mighty Wind" and "Best In Show". Even though I still love Fred Willard's play by play in the "Best in Show".
6. Watched the Sox salvage the weekend by winning one in the 9th. A game that should have been won in the top of the 9th not the bottom of the ninth. Saving the Sox from a really lost weekend. Good to see Big Frank back, oh wait he hurt himself. Arrrg. Well it worked out today. Thanks Timo "Maas" Perez. Also it was nice to see that they gave Ozzie an extension through 2008.
Well I must get back to it.

Hey Donald this would not be such a problem if we actually told the truth, did things properly. Just a thought.
John Bolton the only thing that is worse than your people skills is Michael Bolton's hairline. To make you U.N. Ambassador would be more horrendous than any album Michael Bolton has ever conceived.
Wow, the Star Wars Kids may have someone to laugh at now.
What do you mean having the Hell's Angels doing security that something could go wrong? Took them long enough to figure it out. All the time I thought it was Jerry Garcia who did it.
What the last two elections didn't tell you something. I did find humor that the story' date line is from Chicago. The city where the dead loved Mayor Daly Sr. so much that they continued to vote from the Great Beyond.
Ken Jennings stops juicing look what happens.
From across the Pond
The Queen will not be amused.
Why do we need the Spice Girls back, even if it is for a good cause? Maybe if we get them all together we can finally get them back into captivity. After them next up Westlife.
Black day for livers in Liverpool.
Well that is all from now, please enjoy our hard hitting interview with the cast of Kate and Allie.
This just in. How did I miss this. It is as if Oscar Gamble's fro and Einstein's hair had a child. Phil, I must draw you.
Last night after a hard day trying to avoid responsibility at work, but failing. I returned home to Fortress of Boskitude for a quiet evening. The Better Half and I enjoyed an evening of baseball. Sitting back watching the White Sox win again. With the Twins losing, I feel pretty this morning. Oh I know it is not over by a long shot, but still 6 games. Again last nights game, quick. I know I harped on it last night but 2:44 minutes used to be the middle innings for most American league games. Back when the players were juiced.
Well I must get back to pretending to be going along with the "Man's" program and work.
Please take a moment and shop the gift store. We have a new shipment of Eddie Rabbitt cassettes.
Why is it I can turn a simple post into Steven King's "The Stand". While in high school and college I had trouble reaching the minimum on words for an assignment? Why, Why?
Jerry Rice a Bronco.
First it was the Cleveland Refugee program. Next came Clarrett. Then it was a punter who juicing. Now Jerry Rice. I hope you know what you are doing Shanahan. If he can pull off a spot in the post-season and a playoff win or two, then he will truly be the Mastermind. This pick up would have been great 10 years agony, hell I would have taken 3 years ago. Right now I all I can imagine is the black hole we have had at WR. Other than McCaffery and Smith and possibly Lelie we have not had decent WR's since the Amigo's (Jackson, Johnson, Nattiel) and the Gringo (Watson).
Look at what they have tried:
Patrick Jeffers (yes he did have a 1,000 yrd season, but not with Den.)
Eddie Kennison (I will end with this one since Kennison like quitting)
and so on and so on.
But I am hoping Jerry will give us one year. He owes that. I still have nightmare of seeing him run free in Super Bowl XXIV scoring TD after TD.
Well will see.
Now back to Sheriff Lobo vs. Space 1999
Just like 83, it does not look pretty but they get it done. Had a good night at the yard even with the $8.50 I paid for a Harp. Sat through a terse 11 Inning pitching duel with the righteous, valiant Defenders of Democracy 2 and Really Good Team with a regionally alienating team name 1. It was an excellent pitchers duel, Buehrle vs. Colon. Both were just cruising along. The amazing thing was that the 11 innings took under 3 hours. Wow I remember a time when any game Pudge use to catch, that 3 hours would get you to about the 7th inning. I thought we were screwed after having a go-ahead run cut down at the plate in the 9th. Then the Angels get Figgins on, move him over. Then Ozzie makes a move I thought was going to blow up in his face. He walks Cabrera to get to Anderson. Sure I see you want left-hander vs. left-hander and now you have a shot at the DP. But Anderson is the one who roped a double down the line in the 6th to tie this game up. But it worked. Buehrle got Anderson to pop up. Then got Rivera to ground out to first, which almost ended in disaster. I did not think Buehrle was going to get there to cover, but he did. All the time I had visions of Figgins scoring to end it. Instead the Sox made the plays and did enough to win. Last years team that game is over in the 9th.
Maybe, just maybe, my optimism is warranted. That we have come to the point were the Fates feel we have suffered enough for 1919. Dare I dream? I am getting to the point were if they let me down this season. I am going to get a cue ball, put it in a sweat sock and beat the bejesus out of all of them.
So again I would like to thank the King of the Desert Hooligans for the ticket and for having to hear me loose my voice.
Well I got some good news along with bad. The bad is, just when I thought I had this boulder pushed up the hill with this temp assignment. Bam! I am back under that boulder at the bottom of that hill. I got extended another week. What am I a lounge act. Now extended another week, Boski and the Diphthongs! Come and listen as Boski plays the copier, the staple remover and warms your heart with his version of filing! Well at least this means they like me well enough to keep me. But I know the bronze deer and the elves in customer service are going to give me crap for this.
On the plus side I off to Anaheim to see the Sox. I feel as mayor of White Sox village it is my civic duty. This could turn into another minus if I am subjected to a beating, but we will see. My friend, the King of the Desert Hooligans scored the tix. This season is rekindling my love of baseball. I do not know if it will ever surpass football, but I would like to get back some of the love. I do not think I have been the same since 94. The Sox were going to win it all I know this and you know this. But I blame the Cubs. They had something to do with the strike not being resolved. But it will be a nice night at Anaheim.
Thank you, please relax to the dulcet tones Rosie Perez Glee Club.
Well my weekend was great, if the Sox had rallied one more time then it would have been in the top 10 weekends. Friday night the Better Half and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner together enjoying the warm beautiful weather. We ran some errands and called it a Friday night.
Saturday got up early and went to a ceramic sale and met the Better Half’s Mom. Yes I did type those words. The sale was being held by the Better Half’s former instructor at OCC. Who is a nice guy, even though an SC fan. The Better Half got some nice pieces as we roasted under the hot Tustin sun. Came home rested and rejoiced as the Sox beat the Cubs again. Then we rolled out again to check out a friend of the Better Half’s Mom’s Gallery. Yes, I did those two things. Do not look surprised. I do get some culture into my life other than frozen yogurt. We have been going to this gallery for a couple of years. This time the proprietor had some of his prints up. Got to enjoy the Preakness while there, so there was some “sports” involved. Then came the surprising part of the evening.
The Better Half got tickets from a client for PowerHouse. A concert sponsored by Hip Hop station. Look I dabble in rizzap from timizzle to timeszchnizle, but a lot of it I can not listen to anymore. (well what they throw on to MTV). They don't make albums like the Preditor, Fear of Black Planet, or any Bestie Boys album like they use to.
I was not interested in most of the line up, but the bill did have Buster Rhymes (you know LeAnn’s brother) and Snoop. We sauntered in around 8:15 walked and we left at 1:15 AM. Why so late? Well because Snoop did a 2 + hour set, with a host of guests (including Pharrell, Warren G, Nate Dogg, hell they got Cypress Hill to come out to do a song). But what impressed me most about Snoop, is he listened to Dr. Dre (who is board certified). When he does a stage show, he goes Parliament Funkadelic on it. He brings out a band to go with a couple of DJ’s and they play. DJ Mayo (that’s me) MC Better Half loved it. I am thankful I did not have to take a drug test the next day, because a lot of people were sparking up the herb, through out the arena. I did like Busta, but he could have done more and he kept cutting things short. The Law Offices of Bones, Thugs and Harmony – I just did not care for. A lot of there set was lets go walk around time. The Game was next. On the plus side, he did come out in the 1977 Bobby Bonds, California Angel Jersey. Minus, I was not too impressed. Hey Mr. The Game, you may not want to be trashing 50 since most of your hits have him singing on them. Good luck with that next album jackass. I think the only thing that would have topped this was seeing Audioslave at the KROQ Winnie Roast down the road. Heard they played some Rage and some Soundgarden. Note to Zack, how is that solo project going? Leaving Rage was a great idea, sure.
Sunday – woke up around 9 and as the Better Half got the paper. I had one thought, Star Wars. So we packed up the Boski mobile and went to see a movie at 10:30 AM. And at 1:00 PM I walked out happy. The third enstallment did do a great job at making up for I and II (even though I am still in therapy). I will say that it was darker than Empire. And I did love seeing Vadar put on the helmet so he could get to some Galatic ass kicking. It did however leave me with questions that I wish could have been answered. They may be too dorky to get into but here they are:
1. What causes the Empire to go from a clone army to just humans? What is up with that?
2. Also, what about no diversity in the Imperial ranks? Are you saying that Greddo can’t go down to the Imperial Navy recruitment center and get a job on a Star Destroyer?
3. Did they make or worship Danish or Cinnamon Rolls on Alderran. I need to know why the future Princess Leia hair is a tribute to them. Did they run wild on Alderran? After the 1st Death Star blew it up, did its destruction spread the sent of cinnamon across the universe?
4. Who cons the Imperial Navy to use Tie Fighters? Look I know you can get them cheap but they always end up getting their asses kicked by the X-Wing fighters, every time.
5. No Boba Fett. Oh sure the clone troopers have Jango goodness in them, but they are not Boba. I want to know what is going on with him? I want to know about Boba the Teen Age years? Look at his old year books find out that he played Football, was on Student Council, member of National Honor Society, Head of the Chess and Bounty Hunter Club. Also worked on yearbook. I could see an awkward young Boba moving along in a Kevin Arnold Wonder Years kind of way, but with more violence. How did he get hooked up with Jabba? What was he doing? Was he a mild manner insurance salesman who did bounty hunting on the side till he met Jabba at a timeshare seminar on Ord Mantel? Or was he always a hard drinking, hard loving, hard bounty hunting man, who bonded with Jabba over his love of Hummel figurines? You see a ton of questions on him alone.
6. Also, did the Empire have a terror weapon before the 1st Death Star? Was there a huge Civil War/civil unrest after the end of the Clone Wars, before the rebellion that required said super-wepon? Because I want to know why we go from a pretty good technology and decent hair, to Radio Shack Technology and really bad feathered hair. What before the Death Star there was the Disco Star? A weapon so terrifying that the Empire destroyed it itself? It did not destroy planets; it made them embrace the Bee Gees, and polyester leisure suits. Just imagine Sgt. Pepper the Movie with the Bee Gee’s and that is what the Disco Star did. So, maybe the Empire felt that blowing up the planet was more humane?
Just some questions I wanted answered. I hope I have not scared all of you.
Please sit back and enjoy Peter Jennings dramatic readings from “Three’s Company”
Things were going along too well. My boss was out till two, Sox win and the assignment was over. WRONG! I am back for another week. I should have known. Next week will really suck, because I will train someone to a job I do not completely understand. Damn it I can hear the bronze deer laughing at me right now. Arrrrggggghhhh. I wanted to have a week off. The weather is nice, and I would like time to get some projects done around the house. Why is it the jobs I do not mind being at end and the ones that suck seem to go on and on.
Cubs lose, Cubs lose. Wow this weekend is getting off to a good start.
Anything short of utter humiliation and shaming of the Cubs will be seen as a failure.
This has been a friendly message from the Mayor of White Sox Village. Yes, if the Red Sox can have a nation, we can have a village. Maybe one day it will grow into a nice moderate sized town, with a Chamber of Commerce. But I will say (as I steal from the Red Sox) outside of myself, the only idiots in this village are Cub fans.
Now it pops up just as I type the previous post. Perfect.
Well other than the obvious things like: decent content, a point, spelling, grammar and nutmeg.
I am saddened to see that my Google Search results is missing. So who took it, come on fess up. I swear I will turn this car around. Ah nuts, should have gotten LoJack when I have the chance.
But I am glad to say that things not missing here are:
Over use of the words and phrases like: well, White Sox, Estates General, and (fill in the blank) called and asked if you could tone it down.
To many sidebars using (like the time last week when I was out golfing with the ghost of Millard Fillmore and we were discussing great Peruvian Acrobats...) that go nowhere.
Finally, a healthy lack of originality or insight.
People have asked me why do I always put myself down. Well, one it is easy. Just add water and microwave for 30 seconds and you have Charlie Brown with more hair . Two I have a degree in Self-deprecation. I was only going to minor in it but since I did so well I ended up majoring in it.
Seriously folks I here all week, tell your friends.
Washington Senators II Electric Bugaloo 0
White Sox 7
Still feeling out of it. I have asked the other workers in the office to please remove any and all salt in the building. I was fine Monday night playing softball (not very well). But since I have been sore and sluggish with a chance of showers late. I think I may be lagging because I am trying to get over the loss of JAG and Everyone Love Raymond. Who will step in and be a show that was on forever but you never knew anyone who watched?" Well CBS will come through I thought they would never recover from the losses of Simon & Simon and Knotts Landing.
There is one thing I did get rilled up about since I last blogged. NFL Hall of Fame. The thing going around is that there seems to be an "anti-Cowboy" bias. With Michael Irvin being a first ballot. That his off-field behavior is being held against him. I think he should go in he did enough to get in, but he is no slam dunk. As for his off field behavior I think any bias against him is due simply to the fact that most of the Hall of Fame Voters are prejudice against . . . fur coats. I am sorry you had to hear it here first, but I wanted you to hear it from me. As for this not enough Cowboys in the HOF, I say you may have a complaint, but there is only one Bronco in the Hall of fame, and please do not give me that Tony Dorsett Willie Brown crap. Only one. This franchise has only had five losing seasons since 1977 and you only have 1 HOF'er. What about Randy Gradishar, Louis Wright, Rich Jackson, Karl Mecklenberg, Steve Atwater (He should be coming up soon), Steve Smith. Okay some of them are reaches, but seriously. The Seahawks have one, the Bucs have one and they came into the league in 1976. Wow I feel better, but still sluggish.
I got nothing for you good folks today. My mind is a blank. I sit here at my desk killing time like a pro. I would put Dean Smith's Four Corner to shame. I will be screwed if they put in a shot clock.
Part of my morning is pondering if my life would be better with out both of my ankles and my left knee. I could get those pirate peg legs I have been eyeing. I would probably run faster. I swear when I hold a meaningless job with benefits, I going to have them look at my ankles and knees and answer the question what is up with the popping an cracking sounds? I swear in the morning when I get out of bed it sound like the mosh pit at a Tony Bennett Concert.
So please enjoy a very special "Bewitched with Uriah Heep".
Strange things are afoot in Narnia. I was using one of the offices restroom facilities. One I had not used before. Things at the Law Firm of Lidsville are strange enough, with the waterfall, the koi, the bronze figures, and the stuffed pheasant that is eyeballing me. But when I looked at the wall and say that they had two painting of haggard Asian gentlemen taking hits on the old Opium pipes. I had to pause and say “WTF”. Is this seriously here? What else do they have hiding here? And did I leave the lights on at home? Well I went across the bridge that spans the river that flows through the lobby. I wanted to go talk to bronze deer to get his input. As I was I got hassled by the Troll underneath said bridge. He was yelling at me about a TPX Report. I told him that the Bugallus’s in accounting have that and if he does not stop hassling me I going to go get Chaka in HR to settle this shit. Well I have to get back Asland is near! He is finishing up copies for me.
I wish I had actual content for some on the titles I create. Because I think a couple of you out there are curious about what those wacky TV killing Scotsmen are doing. Without having to go look them up. But sadly all you get is this. Yes, I know I have already contacted the BBB and have tried to turn myself in a couple of times. I am working on it people.
A pleasant weekend was spent with some of my family, actually ventured outside with out my PS2 controller. Had a good time watching T-Ball. May is time for the playoff run and we see which 5 and 6 year olds are going to be the next Mr. June. Also another side note. Never, ever bet a T-Ball game. I looked at the match-up and thought it would be a pitchers duel and I was wrong, so wrong. They have to get steroids out of T-Ball.
Hung out with the King of the Desert Hooligans his wife and their beautiful child. Good to hang out in the Land of Gracious living and dry heat. I forget how hot it can get back around the old homestead. All the summers without AC, how did I survive? I know you are asking why didn't you have AC? Well the answer is my father. All of us would have had to get 2nd and 3rd jobs to support is Freon habit. My father would have run that AC all year long. Let's just say that we would have had rain everytime we opened the front door. Even though I do not like the heat, I still have a fascination with desert and being in Vegas. Kind like Randall in Clerks.
"You hate people."
"But I love gatherings, isn't ironic."
I think I butchered that like Ryan Leaf.
Sunday was a day out with the Better Half and my Mom. Had a good day hanging with them as they went through the OC Swap Meet. Not great for shopping, but great for seeing that Darwin was wrong.
On the sports front, it was a bad weekend the Sox split a four game series. Wow, I never thought that sentence would ever comeout of my mouth. They major league record ended Sunday. Another impress your friends fact. That this is second major league streak that that O's have stopped in Comiskey. 1988 they ended their 0-21 start at the Old Comiskey and Sunday they ended the White Sox streak of 36 consecutive game holding a lead to start a season. Hmmmmmm! Well I hope they get rolling again. Well at least through next week when they stop in Anaheim.
Well I must get back to work so please enjoy the grounds and remember to get you parking validated at the front desk.
I have a couple of possible band names that I think would be huge success.
Taco Marmalade - I am thinking a cross between Stan Ridgeway and Evelyn Champange King meet Wasp.
Bad Pop Culture Reference - This screams college band that thinks it too cool for the room.
Tales from the Bunko Squad - I see Royal Crown Review meets the ghost of Richard Marx.
Slurry Wagon - Megadeath and Jill Osborne have a kid, this is there off-spring.
Well it is Friday and I have wasted enough time today that I could have used to do my job. Oh well.
Which of these teams is the most random:
1. 1978 California Angels
2. 1974 Detroit Lions
3. 1993 Dallas Mavericks
4. 1983 Minnesota North Stars
5. 2001 Colorado Rockies
6. 1998 New Orleans Saints
Who did captain Stubing think he was? Oh sure he was the "captain", but you never saw him on the bridge. What the hell did he do? I think the only thing he tried to steer was an unauthorized boarding of Englebert Humperdinck while Elke Sommer watched. Now Dr. Bricker, he was the man, not Issac, not Julie and certainly not Gopher. He ran that boat like Sebastian Coe running the mile. I mean shit was tight! The only thing Dr. Bricker was missing was the pimp hat and cane.
No class. I got a chuckle at first and then I got angry after reading this. Tom, the only smearing I am seeing is what you and those of your ilk are doing to the Constitution. You are wiping the crap that you spew all over it. Thanks jackass.
The way things are going we are going to have ourselves our own "Reign of Terror". There seems to be an inverse French Revolution in the works, minus the bloodshed, yet. Here the Upper Class and the Church are looking to take over and work to create a "version of utopia". One they would like to inflict on all of us, no matter who it hurts. Next stop feudalism. When will Walmart send me to fight in the Holy Land? You can see some similarities don't you. Look the Department of Homeland Security and the Committee of Public Safety, both looking to rid themselves of "enemies of the state". The Directory then and Bush, Cheney, Rove, Fist in the ass, oh I mean Frist, and De Lay now. We also have tribunals, foreign wars and demands for sweeping social "change".
All I ask is that at least the Jacobians..er the NeoCons should at least start wearing the red hats, so we all know where we stand. So it will Liberty (only for those who do not question), Equality(only for the rich and the true believers) and Fraternity (we will all have to move back to our parents homes since we will be broke. Or join colonies of non-commissioned mobile free lancers aka the homeless, living under the crumbling freeways and roads)
Well kids wake me when it is time for the Thermidor Reaction. Mmmm Lobster Thermidor.
I never imagined I would still be speaking about the Sox. I am so pleased that sports mags and the papers have to write about them (even though the Sporting News is pissing the hell out of me) and ESPN shows their highlights toward the beginning of SportsCenter not at the end after "Did You Know", world ice dancing highlights and a couple of ads for "Stump the Schwab".
Oh sure they have teased me in the past and I should not get my hopes up. A prime example of this behavior was demonstrated last season. They were doing great until the Twins rolled into town for a four game set in August. Our hard fought 3 game lead became a free-fall. Strangely this season has a different feel to it (at least till the free fall). The only thing that sucks is we are playing so well and we are only four ahead of the tax cheating, dog kicking, red wine with chicken drinking, non VCR tape rewinding Twins. But the plucky little White Sox are doing their best at making me forget that the Broncos have taken every Cleveland Brown defender they could find. I think they may have been desperate when they were trying to sign Frank Minnefeild and Hanford Dixon. What they could not find Clay Matthews or Chip Banks? Look Bob Golic is always looking for work. Well I am going to enjoy it while it last.
Coming up Laurie Anderson's Tribute to This Week In Baseball.
Well I finally have some access while I am at work. My boss is out for till Monday so I am on my own. Which means I will think I am making progress but Monday find out that it is all wrong. I would love to sit and blog all day, but I have to actually do the work and I am in a very open space. So I can not view all that Finnish dwarf tossing. Damn!.
Last night went to the Big A to catch a game with some friends I had not seen in forever. Thanks to the King of the Desert Hooligans for the tickets. Had a good time, but after going to Petco I felt a let down. Great I have become a stadium snob. I think as my penitence I should be forced to go back to Shea, Yankee Stadium and Oakland Coliseum. That will learn me.
I forgot one other item on my "brushes with sports greatness". Hanging with Charlie Hough eating KFC and watching the highlight film of the 78 All-Star game at my elementary school.
Not making the list:
Walking by Robert Horry at the Hard Rock.
Passing Danny White at Treasure Island
Watching Jenny Finch be bored out of her skull as she had to do an appearance at my gym's Hawaii Trip Give Away.
If I have any more I will let you know. Please fill out those comment cards.
This weekends NBA MVP voting made me thing about those special moments when I have crossed paths with sports greatness. So here are great moments personal sports moments with Boski. Wait what they hell does Steve Nash have to do with this? I am getting to that.
I played football with two future MLBer's - Phil Nevin and Matt Luke
Played hoops with a current MLB pitcher Brett Tomko.
(Note when I said played that mean they played and I was riding pine or being used as tackling dummy)
Shared and Elevator with Steve Nash in 96 as he was playing in the NBA Rookie league and I was at Sports Broadcasting Camp. He was not impressed with my Rick Fox Mike Smrek reference. That went over well. Oh yes Boski had a dream of being a broadcaster, but poor speaking skills and too many esoteric remarks about the Estate General mean no future.
Met NFL CB and Kick Returner Jackie Wallace back in Kindergarten. Watch the Highlight film of Super Bowl IX you will see him trying to tackle Franco Harris all day. He was dating our teacher. I actually gave him artwork. My family got very little art from me because I knew even at an early age I sucked at art. I drew him a football field.
Chilled with Max Venable at a function at a health club I use to sling burgers at. A bonus point for you if you know who he is.
Nearly got run over by former Angel Infielder Dick Schofield as he was leaving the Camelot Batting Cages in '87.
Hung out with Former All-American and a member of 1984 Olympic Hoops teamer and now NBA ref, Leon Wood. I actually got to do it twice. Once in 94 when I was coach soph hoops in Dana Hills and again at that broadcasting camp. (One final note, during that camp I can swear to this on a stack of bibles. I watch Kurt Warner play Arena football as he was playing for the Iowa Barnstormers as they beatened the Anaheim Parhania's. Not the Colts vs Giants in 58).
Met Rex Hudler who is genuinely insane, but in a good way. Back in 95 during great Angel Collapse, I caught a ton of Angels games that season. The Hud Dog is a character and someone who did love playing the game. The Better Half and I went to meet him and get something signed. The night before we caught a game against the O's. Harold Baines was playing so I had to be there. But the Hud Dog had been slumping and hit a routine single to center, but Andy Van Slyke was loafing so the Dog took second. When I brought this up the Hud the next day it was as if he was talking about the greatest Christmas gift ever, but it was about an extra basehit in May. God bless you Hud Dog, go out an eat a bug.
Finally my favorite. Back in 92 I was fortunate to have tickets to go to the NFL experience in Pasadena. Way back when there was football in LA. Had a great time and we travel back to the Placentia and we had to eat. So me and a couple of my friends stop at Taco Bell. As I walk in I see two gentlemen in baseball jersey's. One was a Dodger jersey and the other a Mariners. Who were these gentlemen? Was it Griffey Jr. and Strawberry? No Lenny Randle, the man who deck his manager back in '77 and Ken Landreaux the man of a 38 game hit streak and a coke problem. They had been at a card show near by and where finishing the fare Taco Bell had to offer. They told us they had to get going and to stop by the card show. None of this was solicited. I think the look on my face tipped them off that I knew who they were. I was excited. To me I thought, if you two are here does that mean Bob Bailor and Rob Wilfong are in the dining area getting their Nacho Bell Grande on. Sadly no. But then that is how Boski's mind works.
Thank you listening now "Great Moments in the WFL"
It is Mother's Day weekend it is time to give thanks to Mom.
This weekend Team Boski will be out early enjoying a lovely breakfast with the Better Half's Mom. Which will be nice. Then in the afternoon we head to the stately Boski Manor to enjoy dinner with Matriarch of the Boski Klan, and family, at the show palace of the Placentia Riviera.
I could spend hours listing all the wonderful things that my Mom has done for me, so instead I will just say thanks Mom.
When did the Boxing Commission in this state end the 3 knock down rule. I felt like Randall Tex Cobb this week during this temp assignment. Holmes kept beating on me, but the ref would not stop the fight. Oh I know I am being melodramtic, but still sucked ass. But hey, I can't complain. I not in coal mine or drumming for Spinal Tap.
If you have BBC America, then watch Shamless. Try it you will like it.
That pretty much sums up my week so far. Okay not as bad as that, almost.
This assignment sucks. I have been dropped into the wonderful world of Escrow. Oh what joy it is to be thrown into something, and have no clue about it. What they hell is going on? I am a little slow on the up take, but people give me a little more training. Well you know what they say about being thrown in to the deep end? There is a good chance you will drown. Right now, I am so lost, and next week I will be so screwed. I will not feel as liberated as Matthew Brodrick felt in the Freshman, when things when you are completely screwed. My biggest fear, that I am going to piss these people off to the point they will punish me by keeping me longer.
When this is done I have to get a real job because I have got to put an end to this 56K dial up crap.
As we hurtle toward Mid May the Chicago White Sox are 21 - 7, 4 1/2 up. Did you know the Sox set a MLB record this week by holding a lead in 28 straight games to start a season. Go ahead and amaze your friends. The scary part about that is there were at least four of those games that the Sox should have won. I hope that is not a bad omen come October.
Kellen Winslow II - WTF dude. I hope for your sake you say that you were high. Because that could be one of the all-time worst decisions in history. Moving ahead of the Donner Party, but just short of Maginot Line.
The NBA Playoffs are going on. Hmmmm. Note to Phil Jackson, we are sorry, please come back.
Did I mention 56K dial up sucks.
There are Koi in the lobby of the place I am temping at, along with a bronze deer, lamp posts and a water fall. Imagine if a law firm from the 80's made sweet sweet love to the set of the New Zoo Review. The office would be their love-child.
Paula Abdul drugged up and boinking contestants. Hey, she can take Pat O'Brien's spot in rehab. Oh great job, Slappy Mc Drunkmiester on Dr. Phil McCracken's yesterday. If only a meteor could have stuck that set. I would be so happy.
Well I must get back to writing the Broadway adaptation of Hardcastle and Mc Cormick. Thank you and good night.
